About TSMC
Founded in 1987, TSMC is the world's largest dedicated
semiconductor foundry, providing the industry's leading process
technology and the foundry industry's largest portfolio of
process-proven library, IP, design tools and reference flows. TSMC Worldwide ManufacturingTSMC serves the global semiconductor market through its network of worldwide manufacturing facilities and offices. It operates two advanced 300mm wafer fabs, four 8-inch wafer fabs, and one 6-inch wafer fab. Fab operations are centralized in Taiwan, primarily in Hsinchu Science Park and Tainan Science Park. In addition to WaferTech, TSMC fabs are also located in, Singapore (SSMC, a joint venture with NXP Semiconductors), and Shanghai, China. Related:

In 2002, TSMC became the first semiconductor foundry to enter
the ranks of the top 10 integrated circuit companies in terms of
worldwide sales, claiming the ninth spot. It continues to move
up and was ranked number sixth in 2006 according to an IC
Insight research report in March, 2007.
